Diabetic Eye Exams

Diabetic Retinopathy is the most common diabetic eye disease and a leading cause of blindness in American adults. It is caused by changes in the blood vessels of the retina leading to bleeding in the back of the eye. Fortunately, annual eye exams help to diagnose retinal changes early on and prevent blindness.

The doctors at Berkely Eye Associates evaluate the health of your eyes thoroughly and can determine if there are changes related to diabetes. We recommend all diabetics receive yearly eye exams, however more frequent visits may be necessary in certain cases.

We will also communicate with your primary care physician and keep them updated on any ocular findings seen during your eye exam in order to provide comprehensive health care.
